Locum Tenens Leaders and Physician Staffing Pros Convene in the Queen City for the 2024 NALTO/NAPR Convention

How can NALTO ever top the dazzling 2023 Fall Fly-In in Park City, Utah, that smashed attendance records? In two weeks, we may find out as locum tenens leaders and physician staffing pros reunite from March 6-8 at the annual NALTO/NAPR Convention in the “Queen City,” Charlotte, North Carolina.

NALTO, the only professional association of temporary physician staffing firms, and the National Association of Physician Recruiters (NAPR), an organization composed of recruiters at search firms, management companies, and healthcare organizations, will co-host this three-day networking and knowledge-sharing extravaganza at the Le Meridien Hotel in downtown Charlotte — or, as the native Charlotteans say, “uptown.”

In a world where virtual events have become the norm, in-person events build community by giving attendees face time with their peers. Those one-on-one interactions are where new ideas are shared with old friends and new friends are made.

“Only through an in-person event can you foster meaningful relationships, creating a conducive environment for networking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas,” says Jarin Dana, Board President of NALTO. “This conference offers the chance to read body language, share experiences, and build a stronger sense of community within the locum tenens industry. The depth of connection achieved in person is unmatched, contributing to professional growth and the development of lasting partnerships.”

Forging Relationships With Locums Peers

Dana says this year’s convention is one packed with many “must-attend sessions and social events that cater to a variety” of interests for locum tenens professionals.

“I thought it would be tough to top the valuable content we had in Park City in the fall, but I believe our conference committee has done it,” Dana stated. “From experienced insights from Jeff Bowling to the discussions on the latest healthcare trends from our physician panel, attendees can expect to gain valuable knowledge and strategies.”

The convention starts Wednesday, March 6, with registration from 3 pm to 6:15 p.m. A welcome reception for NALTO’s new and current members begins at 5 p.m. This informal gathering is a chance for members to commiserate about NALTO’s mission and learn about its committees and advocacy work

Here’s what else is in store in Charlotte:
  • Following registration and breakfast at 8 a.m. on Thursday, the event kicks off at 9 a.m. with keynote speaker Daniel Kuzmanovich, a physician expert with the research organization Advisory Board, who will give an overview of the physician hiring landscape. Kuzmanovich will present his research on topics including value-based care, physician alignment, and healthcare industry trends.
  • Jeffrey Bowling, a partner at Four Piers Capital, will lead another learning opportunity for NALTO members at 10:45 a.m. when he’ll delve into growth strategies locum tenens agencies can use to scale their company and prepare it for growth.
  • During lunch, NALTO will hold its regular business meeting and hand out several service awards to NALTO members for things like volunteerism and advocacy before returning to the rest of the day’s activities.
  • At 1:45 p.m., Sarah Kroll-Rosenbaum, Partner, Akerman LLP, and Montaye Sigmon, Partner, Akerman LLP, will explain new state healthcare staffing laws and how each of those applies to locum tenens organizations.
  • On Thursday evening, put on your best poker face and prepare for the “Casino Night” social event, which will be a gaming-themed soirée where attendees can come and unwind with drinks, enjoy a delectable dinner, and tangle with Lady Luck.
  • Following breakfast on Friday morning, Dr. Andrew Wilner – author of “The Locum Life,” host of a physician podcast, an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Tennessee, and friend of Locumpedia – will join physician panelists to offer insights on their journey as a physician candidate and their experiences working with recruiters and agencies.

As we count down to the NALTO/NAPR Convention, there’s copious excitement surrounding the event, not only for the learning and insights attendees will bring back to their desks but also for valuable connections made in Charlotte.

NALTO President Dana offers a parting message for anyone who hasn’t decided whether to attend the three-day blockbuster industry event.
